We've now successfully embedded our location intelligence platform into the everyday workflows of over 350,000 users in North America. Our impact now includes over half the U.S. population every day. In 2019, DMP was acquired by LightBox.

Why Location Intelligence?

We created Digital Map Products with a very specific purpose. Back in the mid-1990s, our founders saw the incredible potential of an emerging technology focused on location. This new technology had a lot of different names including geographic information systems, GIS, spatial technology, location technology and more. However, what was obvious to everyone was that while the technology had incredible potential and had already demonstrated great value on a limited scale, it was also complex and very expensive, available only to those with deep pockets and specialized technical expertise.

Our company was created to deliver location intelligence and confident decision making to our customers. We do this by making this technology easy to implement, embedding it into the day-to-day workflow. By doing so, we could deliver location technology to a much broader audience. 20+ years later, our technology benefits over half of the U.S. population every day. In 2019, DMP was acquired by LightBox, a new operating company formed to forever change the way decision-making happens in real estate.

We've Come a Long Way, But We're Far From Done

December 1995
Original Concept Launch
We launched our company’s original concept as a joint venture with Psomas Engineering and Thomas Bros Maps.
April 1997
First Customer
We signed our first customer – the City of Santa Ana, CA (still a customer today) – the first deployment of a B2B SaaS application embedding spatial technology called CityGIS.
October 2000
First DMP Office
We opened our first DMP office with 5 employees in Costa Mesa, CA – now independent from the joint venture.
November 2001
First GIS Application
We previewed CityGIS2 on its own platform, highlighting the first online GIS application with “dynamic pan and zoom” capability.
June 2003
First Builder Customer
We signed our first builder customer, Young Homes. Our original sponsor at Young Homes remains a customer to this day.
October 2005
SpatialStream® Launch
We deployed the first version of our SpatialStream web service to power the first online consumer real estate website, Cyberhomes.
September 2008
Google Partnership
We partnered with Google to accelerate the completion of our database of nationwide parcel boundaries.
September 2010
First National CRE Customer
We signed Marcus & Millichap, the nation’s largest multi-family brokerage, as our first national commercial real estate account.
August 2016
New Equity Investment
We received an equity investment from Silversmith Capital Partners to propel us into our next generation of growth.
December 2016
Employee #100
We hired employee #100.
June 2017
DMTI Spatial Acquisition
We acquired DMTI Spatial, Canada’s market leader in location intelligence and data quality.
August 2017
New Office Lease
We signed the lease for a new, expanded headquarters office near UC Irvine located in Southern California.
October 2017
Mexico Data Acquisition
We acquired Mexico Business Directory, the largest fully geocoded information database for business locations in Mexico
December 2017
New Headquarters Opens
We moved into our new headquarters on the campus of UC Irvine. A perfect environment to drive our next generation of innovation and growth.
May 2018
New Web Service for Esri
We expanded web service capabilities to fully support users of Esri ArcGIS®
