Finding Properties and Locations

There are two primary ways to search for properties and locations in CommunityView™:

  • Perform a conventional search using the search box
  • Perform a visual search by zooming and panning the map to find your desired location

Search Box
Search by an Address
  • Enter the street number and street name in the "Search box" in the upper left of the map screen
  • Make sure you use the format: street # street name. Example: 123 Main St.
    • Note: there is no need to enter a city, state, or zip
  • Click "go"
  • The map will zoom to your search property and outline it in orange

Search by an APN
  • Enter the APN in the "Search box" in the upper left of the map screen
  • Make sure you use the format: apn: xxxxxxxx. Example: apn: 2072002050

Search by a Street Intersection
  • Enter the street intersection in the "Search box" in the upper left of the map screen
  • Make sure you use the format: street name and street name. Example: Main St. and First Av

Map Search
Zoom and pan the map to navigate to your desired location. Mouse over properties and layer features to view address, APN, and additional layer information.

Viewing Layers

The Layers Menu lets you choose a map view (road, aerial, hybrid) and select a city layer to view. Only one city layer can be viewed at a time and the default layer is parcels (displays parcel lines at close zoom levels).

  • Click on "View" from the menu bar above the map screen
  • Select the map view and layer you'd like to display on the map
    • Map View: select from either Road, Aerial, or Hybrid (both road and aerial)
    • City Layers: click on layer to view (e.g. zoning, home owner's association). The selected layer will be highlighted in green.
  • To deselect a layer, click the turn_layer_off option from the Layers List
  • "Home" will take you back to the starting map screen

Identifying Properties and Viewing Information Balloons
  • To identify a property, click on that property. The property outline will turn orange and will remain highlighted until you identify another property by either entering a new search or clicking on another property. Identifying a property turns it into a "selected property."

  • To view additional information about a property, either click on the property or mouse over the property and you will see an information balloon appear with the property's address, APN, and links to further information about the property.
    • To view an oblique image of the property, click on the "Photo" link at the bottom left of the balloon
    • To view summary info for the property, click on the "Summary" link at the bottom center of the balloon
    • To view detailed information for the property, click on the "Details" link at the bottom right of the balloon
    • To remove the property as a "selected property" click on the "Clear Selection" link
  • To view additional information about an active layer, view, or feature simply move your mouse over one of the layer features (colored area, outline, or point) and pause until the information balloon appears. Not all layers have additional information associated with them.
  • Some information balloons have links to additional information contained on them. To access this additional information, such as a website or Driving Directions to or from the property or location, click the link in the balloon. For Driving Directions, if you'd like directions to the identified property or location enter the address you're starting from in the Start Address box. If you'd like directions from the identified property or location, enter your destination address in the End address box. You can also select if you'd like directions for the shortest route in distance or in time. Click the OK button and a separate, printable page of driving directions will appear.
